Arabic Calligraphy Art for Your Home

Of everything I make, calligraphy pieces are the ones people talk to me about most personally. A portrait captures a face; a calligraphy panel carries words that a family lives with — recited, remembered, passed down. Blessed beyond words that this is part of my work. If you are considering a piece for your home or as a gift, here is a gentle guide.
Choosing the words
There is no wrong choice, but there are three directions most pieces take:
- Ayat — a verse that means something to your family. Ayat al-Kursi is the most requested for good reason; Surah Ar-Rahman and Al-Fatiha make breathtaking larger pieces.
- Dhikr — SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar. Short, powerful, and perfect for sets: a matching trio of panels turns one wall into a quiet daily reminder.
- Names and du'as — a family name, a du'a for a new home, a line for a newlywed couple. These make the most personal gifts of all.
If you know the feeling but not the words, tell me the occasion and I will suggest options — choosing the text together is honestly one of my favourite parts.
Choosing the format
Every piece is drawn and painted by hand, so the format is flexible:
- A single statement panel — one verse, generous space, gold or white lettering on a deep ground. Dark canvases with gold leaf catch evening light in a way photographs never do justice to.
- A triptych — three dhikr panels sharing one palette. This is the piece guests always ask about.
- Soft and minimal — cream backgrounds, fine lettering, for calmer interiors and smaller spaces.
Real gold leaf is available on request. It is applied by hand, sheet by sheet, and it ages beautifully.
Where it lives
Majlis and living-room walls take the largest pieces; entryways love a welcoming du'a; bedrooms suit softer, smaller panels. One practical tip: hang calligraphy at eye level and give it empty wall around it — these pieces breathe better with space.
The moments people order for
- Ramadan and Eid — the busiest season in my studio. If you want a piece before Ramadan, order early; hand-drawn work cannot be rushed, and most pieces take two to four weeks.
- Weddings — a shared verse or paired names, gifted to the new couple for their first home.
- New homes — a du'a for barakah is, to me, the most beautiful housewarming gift there is.
- In memory — a verse a loved one always recited. These pieces are an honour to make.
